No time to write a preview at the moment, but since we could all use a good laugh around here, I point you in the direction of this lovely little sideshow as well as the followup on TrueHoop.
Pick Axe and Roll has the view of the game from the Nuggets fan side. Sounds like they're a little positive thinkingly-challenged like we've been lately.

ok
- Hustle on both ends in the first half like last night and do well
- Ignore defense
Trying to be optimistic, predicting a win by suns,
but close again.
I have no idea
Tonight, on a back to back, I wonder if they won't coast just enough to lose. Or perhaps they will show some signs of improvement and come out strong.
Denver doesn't play D and other then Camby and without Nene they aren't a great rebounding team.
We will miss Shawn tonight though on Melo. That's another guy that the Matrix would regularly shut down.
Anyway, its a test. That's for sure. A lose to the 9th seed won't be a good sign at this point in the season. Time to step it up.
The key to the game

Good Opportunity
I also believe much of our struggle last night was due to foul trouble on Stoudamire.
Gordon Giricek didn't look awful in my opinion. He did look a bit lost and very winded at times though.
Lets pull another win out and shut up a few of our many detractors.
Stiff test
I would like to see DJ for a few minutes on Iverson. I suppose Diaw/Hill will take Carmelo, and Amare has Kenyon Martin. He should torch Martin. In a battle against the aftereffects of microfracture, Amare has fared better. Amare is used to being covered by Camby, but Marcus has to cover Shaq. Watch out for JR Smith off of the bench.
Game on
Q1 11:24 - Shaq free throw adventure...
Q1 10:45 - Slick move by Nash
Throw it into the Big Fella
I like it to start the game. Put some fouls on the other team, get into the penalty early, force the double team and get the spacing.
Q1 9:55 - Cashing in
There's a lotta butt-nugget jersey gonna be sittin
this game!
In other news....
http://www.nba.com//news/nowitzki_suspended_080305.html
That should even things up, with Yao being out.
Its like watching tennis
from the net instead of the baseline
Q1 6:56 - Quick call for Diaw
...meanwhile, Raja gets the three, and the Nuggets answer in less than 3 seconds with a two. 17-14, Suns.
Q1 6:16 - Oh that was just beautiful!
Q1 5:45 - Almost replay in reverse
It must be something
to whenever you feel like it, just run to the net and leap into the air, knowing the ball will be there without you calling a play for it, or calling out for it.
Q1 5:45 - Almost blogger jinx
Q1 4:49 - Sweet!
...and now with the down the court to LB. Yeah, safe to say Nash is in one of those "assist zones" at the moment. Already seven and we're barely two-thirds through the first.
Q1 3:42 - Huh?
amare gets the T for something
Q1 3:18 - It's a shootout!
Q1 2:53 - OK, Nash and Giricek ...
Does Carmelo ever say anything but...
Q1 1:30 - Not sure what LB did wrong
Q1 00:25 - Diaw redeems himself
texsun
on the shootout
End of First
After one
Numbers that are good:
- Nash with 7 assists; always a good indicator of how well the offense is flowing.
- Amare with 4-4 from the field.
- Suns with a one-rebound edge on the board.
- Shaq with some early involvement, especially on the boards.
- 64% from the field to the Nuggets' 47%.
- Amare and Raja with the two fouls
- Amare with the tech
- Shaq from the line (still an eyesore, even at 2-4).
Q2 11:42 - Little too much dribbling...
Q2 10:52 - Shaq with the intimidation
Q2 10:28 - Speaking of Najera
Shaq not touching the ball
I didn't notice either way last night in Portland but its clear that they are going away from that plan. The one time Nash did give to Shaq as he trailed up the floor Shaq and Bell weren't on the same page and he threw it away.
Other they that, no more high screen and rolls w/ the big fella. Its all either going in to the post or treating him like Brian Skinner on offense.
I like it.
In the post
Q2 9:24 - Chaos!
What's a game
without seeing D'Antoni walk across the screen throwing a big tantrum at nobody on the sideline.
Q2 8:31 - Help wanted
Two straight fastbreak scores brings the Nuggets lead to nine at 49-40. (When can we bring Nash and Amare back in?)
The things about Karl teams
The Nugs generally get hot in the second half of the season.
I say they make the POs. Maybe HOU does not...
Q2 7:35 - And we get our wish
Nash drawing up the play?

Q2 6:35 - Nice defense by LJ
...meanwhile, nice steal by Diaw. Gets rewarded with the easy one under the basket.
Q2 5:50 - Getting sloppy
Redemption for Nash with the three, though. 45-50, Nuggets.
Kind of funny
Q2 4:18 - The Shaq to Nash pass
Q2 3:35 - Too fancy by Bell
Q3 2:37 - Sweet move by Diaw
Its nice that when you
unplug the matrix, you can still see the Suns in 3D.
3 suns on the bench with 3 fouls each
Nice Run at the End
At the half
Good news: Aside from that dry spell when Nash was resting, the offense has looked better than it has maybe since before the trade. Gotta get some stops in the second half, though, but the nice run at the end made it a lot more respectable.
Still too many turnovers. Shaq has five. Maybe things are moving a bit too fast for him? :)
Suns are outshooting the Nuggets 56%-52%, and outrebounding them too, but the Nuggets still have 10 more shot attempts thanks to the turnovers (most of which went straight in the hole on the fast break, making the defense look worse than it actually is). In other words, take care of the ball and there's no reason the Suns shouldn't come back to win this because they're pretty much getting it done every where else.
Guess Who played the most in the 1st Half???
That's right, Senior Citizen Shaq!
Pick watch update
Q3 11:09 - Not a good start to the third
Q3 10:01 - Tried everything possible...
Q3 8:59 - Amare in foul trouble...
Q3 8:10 - Chipping it back
We looked tired
strange to see us outrunned and outgunned.
Q3 7:00 - D'Antoni takes Amare out
Q3 5:50 - Getting ugly
Nash looks like
Luke skywalker in ROTJ... plays like it too.
Q3 5:05 - That looked easy
More, please.
Q3 3:25 - OK, getting worried now
I guess the flight from PHX to Denver is
one-way non-stop.
Q3 00:38 - And then must get rebounds...
After three
Q4 11:45 - Giricek takes it to the hole
Q4 10:51 - Little bit rusty
...meanwhile, the Nuggets restore the 12-point lead after the Suns fail to make good on two rare consecutive stops.
Q4 10:12 - Really a tough shot by Amare
But, the Nuggets get it back plus one, so we're heading the wrong direction.
Q4 9:38 - That hurts
Throwing in the towel soon?
Q4 7:03 - Stat-padding time?
Q4 6:12 - JR Smith can't miss
Hes a FA this year
isn't he? Gonna cost the NUGS a lot to keep him.
Yep
Ok, not "free"
Q4 5:44 - Can't catch a break
This game is done
second half of a back-to-back loss on the road against a decent team
I think Shaq is looking fine on the court and +/- and stat wise.
The rest of the team needs to speed it up a bit to bring back the Matrix magic. I felt Amare was lethargic. Boris will get better getting his passes right in the shooters' pockets.
We still have to work on TOs but that will come when the team plays together more. I prefer to see the aggression and that they are trying things. Now is the time to make the mistakes and learn what each player can and cannot do.
Q4 4:49 - Sometimes it looks so simple
I;'m still here
I've learned never to shut off the tv when the suns are on.
but Nash out at Crunch time???
No - DAntoni never gives up. this is weird.
Putting on the rose-colored glasses...
Wait, Shaq and Nash on the bench with 4 minutes to go? I'll hold that thought.
Q4 4:27 - Tossing in the towel
Great STAT can pad his stats in garbage time
Way to feed that mentality.
