Mercury Advance, Team USA Puts Beatdown on Brazil

I had plans to sit down tonight and watch four straight hours of basketball, first taking Steven  J. Koek up on his challenge to watch the Phoenix Mercury against the Seattle Storm in the WBNA playoffs, and second to watch Team USA against Brazil. Well, I'm about 0.5 for two, having been interrupted with phone calls and visitors for both, and ended up only catching the last few minutes of the Mercury game, and a bit over half of USA-Brazil. Of the two, looks like the WBNA game was probably more entertaining, as the USA is moments away from their fourth consecutive mega-blowout win (they're just too good!), and the Mercury game went down to the wire. But in any event, I didn't get a good enough glimpse of either game to write anything resembling a coherent recap, so I'm not even going to try. If anyone wants to write up one in the Diaries, please do so. In the meantime, congratulations to the Mercury for advancing to the second round for the first time since 1998 (wouldn't it be something if the Mercury ended up bringing the championship to Phoenix?), and congrats to Team USA for just being too other-worldly good to belong in this tournament. 'Night, all.
