Warning: Good News May Be Hazardous to Your Team

Is it just me, or does it seem like every bit of good news that comes the Suns' way lately is booby-trapped with something awful just waiting to throw water on our enthusiasm? First, the Suns win an awesome Game 4 in the Suns-Spurs series...except it doesn't matter because Amare Stoudemire and Boris Diaw get themselves suspended for Game 5. Next, the Suns seemingly luck out when Atlanta finishes with the fourth best record...only Atlanta manages to land in the lottery's third spot anyway, keeping their draft pick and sending the Suns' offseason plans into a momentary tailspin. The Suns land Grant Hill, and things are looking good again...until Kurt Thomas is sent to the Sonics leaving us all to wonder just how our team plans to defend Tim Duncan next time he's in town. And if that wasn't bad enough, we learn about Tim Donaghy's sordid deeds on the same day!

So now, just when the Suns have finally signed a possible Kurt Thomas replacement, and we fans are starting to feel good about ourselves again, we learn that Shawn Marion no longer wants to be a part of our team, and worse, he wants to go to our most hated rival. Anybody else starting to feel like we're due a break that doesn't come packaged with something dreadful? I'm starting to think any good news involving the Suns should carry a warning label like the following:

Warning!!! Cheering this bit of good fortune will result in an equal or greater amount of bad fortune.
