It is a shame this game won't be on TV. If you are not going to USAC tonight you are going to miss seeing one of the most dynamic and explosive young point guards in the game. Tyreke Evans is an absolute stud. He is large and athletic and probably is more like Dwayne Wade then anyone we've seen enter the league since Dwayne Wade.
'Reke had this to say about his matchup with Nash:
"Steve Nash is a great point guard," Evans said. "He’s good at coming off pick-and-rolls, keeping his dribble when he’s going toward the basket and throwing alley-oops to Amare Stoudemire, so it’s going to be a tough challenge for me to go out there and guard a guy like him."
"(I’ll) just try to do the same thing I did to Monta - use my length. Those guards are a lot smaller than me and a little quicker, but I just look at it like once they beat me, I don’t give up. I just try to get my hands up and block their shot."
Asked at morning shoot-around about the matchup going the other way, Nash commented on Tyreke's unique talents, "I haven't seen him play much in the preseason but obviously an extremely talented player...It will be a thrill for me too to see him play."
Steve went to talk about what kind of point guard Evans is, "He's more of a combo guard that's longer, very athletic. While he's not necessarily a pure point guard he's a play-maker so he can play the point."
It's only preseason but this one could be fun. Plus Paul Westphal and Truck Robinson will be roaming the sidelines in Phoenix. How cool is that!
