Daily Links: Where A Four Game Losing Streak Seems Mighty Possible

If you buy something from an SB Nation link, Vox Media may earn a commission. See our ethics statement.

You combine a Grizzlies team that has been playing extremely well lately (8-2 in their last 10 games) with a Suns team that has lost 9 of their last 10 road game, is 0-3 on this road trip, and 0-17 on TNT and you have a recipe for a four-game losing streak.

The Grizzlies are a very good team (right now) and even if the Suns play well and play hard there's no expectation that they can get the W. However, if they play soft and disinterested there's no question they will get the L.

Happy MLK Day to you.

In his honor let us all dream for a time when the Phoenix Suns will play hard for 48 minutes. And yes, it may be disrespectful to invoke Martin's great name in this way but no more so than praying to the Lord for a win or thanking Jesus for a touchdown. I should stop now before I get into real trouble....

"We've got to be desperate now," Richardson said. "Other teams are catching up and hitting streaks . In the Western Conference, it's a slim margin of error between third place and out of the playoffs. At any cast, we've got to win games, no matter what we do, who's scoring."

Suns General Manager Steve Kerr and Managing Partner Robert Sarver will meet with Stoudemire's agent, Happy Walters, this week for their first formal discussion. Walters declined comment. "We'll definitely talk about it," Kerr said of an extension. "We have a lot to consider. "Amar'e has been great all year. We're thrilled with the way he's played and the effort he's put forth, returning from the injury to his eye."
  • Bobcats 125, Suns 99 -- Rock bottom?| Valley of the Suns
The Suns can only hope this is rock bottom, because I’m not sure how much further they can fall after being embarrassed in Charlotte of all places on Saturday, 125-99.
  • Why the Suns are Setting " mathletics
When we look at the Suns Adjusted +/- ratings we find Frye (+14) has been great and Hill (-11) has really hurt the Suns. For example, when Hill plays our best estimate is that after adjusting for who he plays with and against he makes the Suns play 11 points worse per game than an average NBA player. So it looks like playing Hill less minutes would help the Suns.

  • Nate Robinson, Gerald Wallace Among NBA Dunk Contest Participants - SB Nation
We already knew that the winner of a 'Dunk-In' between DeMar DeRozan and Eric Gordon would be one of the participants. We are also fairly certain that Gordon, while a great player, could get slaughtered by a very confident DeRozan in this 'Dunk-In.' The winner now knows who they will be up against as the NBA has announced the contestants for the 2010 Dunk Contest during All Star Weekend in Dallas next month: Shannon Brown, Gerald Wallace (BUZZSAW) and defending champion and Dunk Contest veteran, Nate Robinson, who won last year with his Kryptonate dunk over Dwight Howard.

But there's good news!!
