Poll Question: If the Suns Second Unit Was a Team's Starting Five, How Good Would That Team Be?

Here's another fun mental exercise to get us through this slow news time. We all loved the Suns second unit last year of Goran Dragic, Leandro Barbosa, Jared Dudley, Lou Amundson and Channing Frye. They often played together as a complete unit and proved to be a major strength for our team. Now, with the additions of Josh Childress and Hakim Warrick, this second unit stands to be even better (apologies to Barbosa and Louuuuuu fans, but I think Childress and Warrick are upgrades).

Assuming a second unit of Dragic, Childress, Dudley, Warrick and Frye, how good would that group be as a team's starting five? Also assume that the coaching staff of said team, and the bench supporting them, would be neutral, not positive or negative factors.

I'd say the most likely scenario is they would be around .500, but probably slightly below that. Let's say mid to high 30s in the win column.

On the plus side, 4 of those guys can shoot from 3 point land fairly efficiently. Dudley and Frye are excellent 3 point shooters, and the team would be good overall on the offensive end. And, it's not an overstatement to say that Dragic has a chance to grow into a dominant force. On the negative side, this team would be as soft as a down pillow inside. They would be completely dependent on Dragic making plays, as none of the other guys can create their own shots well. Half-court offense could bog down badly with little to no low post game.

This is one of the best benches in the league, without a doubt. It may be the best. But it's still going to take our actual starting 5 performing well to carry our team. What do you think?
