Apparently Suns "Were Contemplating" a Bid on Amnestied Elton Brand

Elton Brand had an OK year last year, but his $18M salary this year was just too fat for Philly to chew. So the Amnesty-hammer dropped.

I'm not buying this latest rumor blown out into the air like a bubble in the park... but nevertheless here are the sparse details.

NBA.com's David Aldridge briefly blurted something odd and Suns inclusive in an article he wrote today to compliment a video clip of his own appearance on NBA TV's Game Time to discuss free agency.

The context is a general discussion of the recently amnestied Elton Brand and who his potential bidders might be - Aldridge's main point being that the Dallas Mavericks are Brand's top suiters and his top destination choice. Yet without any further mention in the article - and I watched the video segment twice and didn't catch any mention of the Suns or Hornets at all in his nearly 10 minute conversation, this is what he wrote -

The Suns and Hornets were contemplating making a bid, according to other league sources. But teams are leery of making bids if Brand doesn't want to play there.

Everybody needs to go H.A.M. in the comments here and help me pick my brain as to why this should even make sense.

Catch SB Nation AZ, or ArizonaSports.com's take on the rumor.

In my opinion? Nothing to see here. Move along.
