Gamethread: Phoenix Suns host Alvin Gentry, Jared Dudley, Louis Amundson and the rest of the Clippers

Tonight is a homecoming of sorts, with the Suns hosting a number of luminaries from the mid-2000s run through the Western Conference playoffs. Teams will each play their starters, except for some guy named Blake Griffin (ankle).

Lots to cheer tonight:

  • Channing Frye's first home game since April 2012
  • Jared Dudley and Alvin Gentry hitting the Suns court for first time as opponents since last year
  • Louis Amundson trying to reprise his role as a scrapper, with Miles Plumlee looking to one-up him
  • Eric Bledsoe playing his former team tonight for the first time, against his mentor Chris Paul

Great Alvin Gentry pregame quotes:

  • "I had eight great years here...I was here nine." (lots of laughter on that one)
  • "Obviously I wish I was still here. It just didn't work out that way. I picked this business."

Hornacek notes:

  • Miles Plumlee made Suns players better at boxing out, because if they didn't he would just take the ball from them from behind and over.
  • Says if he had to name one player who surprised him so far, it's Plumlee. Really improved since last year.
  • Says if he was worried about Bledsoe and Dragic playing well together, he would have had them playing more at same time in preseason. But he has no worries about that. They are natural next to each other. He sees a lot of him and KJ in them.
