Phoenix Suns Select Alec Brown With the 50th Pick in the 2014 NBA Draft

With the 50th pick in the draft, the Phoenix Suns select Alec Brown

Mary Langenfeld-USA TODAY Sports

Alec Brown, a 7' 1" power forward from Wisconsin-Green Bay, is known for his ability as a shooter and a stretch four...a good fit for the Suns who depend on spacing as a part of their offense.

During the first workout in Phoenix, in which Brown was in attendance, Ryan McDonough stated that "Alec Brown's shooting really stands out at his size".

It's obviously the main reason he was selected, as he was able to average 15.6 points per game last season while shooting 44% from beyond the arc.

Brown's downside is that he is thin and not very strong at his size, which will be an issue against the much stronger fours in the NBA.  Still, he's a tall, long shooter who can consistently hit open shots from three.  That's enough to give him a chance to develop as a late second round pick with little risk.
