Just weeks after new details were released from Deadspin on Kevin Johnson's sexual abuse allegations, the long-time mayor of Sacramento will not seek another term.

In the statement Johnson posted to Twitter, he said that "tremendous progress" has been made towards his "vision" of "'A City That Works For Everyone'", which was his slogan as mayor.

More from his statement:

"Over my two years in office I've experienced the highest highs and the lowest lows. But I wouldn't change a single moment of it even if I could. Because it is the whole of these experiences that have led our community to where we are today, and I know that is an extremely good place," Johnson said.
