A.J. Price signs 10-day contract with Suns, Seth Curry let go

Michael Hickey-USA TODAY Sports

Here's the veteran point guard we thought was coming after all the trades.

Price is now in his sixth season in the NBA and this is his third team of the season. Price spent three seasons with the Pacers after being selected 52nd overall in 2009. He was then signed by the Wizards in 2012 and would start 22 games for them while John Wall is out.

Price has not found a real home in the NBA. He's never played in over 60 games for a season and that starting gig in Washington was still with only 20-25 minutes a game. That run of playing time didn't grant him much playing time for his following team the Timberwolves, averaging only 3.5 minutes per game in the 2013-2014 season.

While he's not necessarily a true veteran, Price gives the Suns an actual backup point guard and fills the spot on the roster until they figure out their plans in the offseason. Archie Goodwin's trial run at the position last night did not go well in the second half and this might not bode well for his minutes with the Price signing and whenever Brandon Knight returns from injury.
