Both Phoenix Suns players who were ejected from the Miami Heat game, for different reasons, received hefty fines today.
Markieff Morris was fined $15,000 for his Flagrant 2 on Goran Dragic a he attempted to prevent a fast break score by his ex-teammate.
Alex Len was fined $20,000 for "initiating" the fight between himself and Hassan Whiteside, in which he shoved the Miami center before being tackled to the ground. For his part in the altercation, Whiteside was also fined $15,000.
Here is the NBA release as reported by ProBasketballtalk.com:
"Phoenix Suns center Alex Len has been fined $20,000 for initiating an altercation with Miami Heat center Hassan Whiteside and attempting to take him to the floor. Whiteside has been fined $15,000 for escalating the incident by wrestling Len to the floor. Additionally, Suns forward Markieff Morris has been fined $15,000 for his Flagrant 2 for making excessive contact above the shoulders with Heat guard Goran Dragic. The penalties were announced today by Rod Thorn, President, Basketball Operations."
The good news is, none of the players will face a suspension. Many analysts and reporters speculated that both Len and Whiteside could face a suspension for their on-court wrestling match. And whether you agree with Alex being the instigator of the fight or not (I certainly don't), that is good news for the Suns.
