Phoenix Suns players Markieff and Marcus Morris charged with felony aggravated assault

Markieff and Marcus Morris have been charged with two counts of felony aggravated assault for an incident that took place on January 24, 2015.

The alleged incident in question took place on the night of January 24th, 2015 where a basketball tournament was being held at the Nina Mason Pulliam Sports Complex located at 1550 W. Coulter St, in Phoenix, Arizona.

Sean Sullivan previously wrote about this situation on April 8, 2014 when the Suns made a public statement that the organization was aware of the situation and basically had 'no comment' until further information became available.

Statement by Phoenix Suns President of Basketball Operations, Lon Babby:

"We are disappointed to learn that Marcus and Markieff Morris have been charged. This is a serious matter, and we will treat it as such. However, at this time, we think it is most appropriate to continue to monitor the legal process as it unfolds before responding further."

Statement by Marcus and Markieff Morris:

"We have been advised by our attorneys not to discuss this case or make any statements about it. We are sorry for the distraction this has caused to our fans and the Suns."

Statement by Creative Artists Agency representative, Leon Rose:

"Markieff and Marcus are good men and I am confident that when all the facts come out, their names will be cleared."

It appears at this point the Morris brothers were involved... in something.

Unfortunately for Markieff and Marcus, based on their pattern of behavior this past season, public perception may be against them. A rash of technical fouls, an embarrassing meltdown on the sideline, calling out the fans, now this...

I, for one, am not shocked that charges were filed.
