LaMarcus Aldridge is hosting a lot of people on July 1 or July 2. It appears the Phoenix Suns contingent is among the many suitors offered a meeting.

This is the first mention of the Phoenix Suns meeting with any of the big name free agents this summer, but then again there's still 24+ hours before the Suns are allowed to openly contact anyone.

"We're going to be aggressive and target the best players," McDonough said. "I think you'll see us go after the top guys. We hope to get meetings with some of the top free agents and sell them on all Phoenix has to offer.

"You win big in this league with elite players. We had some success over the past couple years, not as much as we'd like this past year, but we're going to be aggressive. There's a great history and tradition here. You saw how a player like Steve Nash transforms an organization when he arrives. We'd be doing a disservice to ourselves and our fans if we didn't go after the top guys."

Meetings are being set and the Suns are invited to the party.

Would Aldridge sign with the Suns? Unlikely. In fact, among that list the Suns are likely no better than 4th or 5th before they walk in the door.

Can they rise up the list with their pitch of allowing Aldridge to be "the man" in Phoenix with a couple of great combo guards feeding him the ball?

With good shooters on the wing, the Suns have already proven that a midrange shooter at PF can make a top-10 offense, and the development of Alex Len on the blocks could blossom into a very good defense.

But then again, there's Portland who have already proven they can win games and make the playoffs with him.

And LA can walk in with Kobe Bryant and Mitch Kupchak. Dallas with Marc Cuban and Dirk Nowitzki and Chandler Parsons. Houston with Daryl Morey and the Beard.

And then there's San Antonio walking in with Gregg Popovich, Tony Parker and Tim Duncan saying hi to him right before the Suns walk in with Lon Babby, Ryan McDonough... and maybe Eric Bledsoe? Who else would the Suns bring for their sales pitch?

Hey, at least the Suns got in front of the biggest free agent who might possibly change teams this summer!
