The Suns will leave Las Vegas with a lot to be excited about, but no Summer League championship.
In past games the Suns found themselves having to dig out of an early hole due to poor shooting. Phoenix actually shot considerably better in the first half against the Spurs, but struggled to hold onto the ball. Defensive minded San Antonio, who held Atlanta to 68 points on Sunday forced 20 Phoenix turnovers in the championship game.
The Suns were led in scoring by Mike James who poured in 32 points, his top performance this summer and the tops scoring effort from any at Summer League. He also collected 8 rebounds but led the Suns with 5 turnovers.
Devin Booker was unable to recapture his touch from Sunday. Booker hit 3 of 10 shots inculding 2 of 3 from behind the arc and finished with 10 points.
First Team All-Summer League selection and the Suns leading scorer this summer, T.J. Warren, was again particularly efficient with his scoring. Warren converted 7 of his 14 shots for 17 points.
Alex Len turned in another impressive performance off the glass. Len ripped down 13 rebounds, his second highest total this summer.
The Spurs were led in scoring by Jonathan Simmons' 23 points. Summer League MVP Kyle Anderson chipped in 15 and Treveon Graham scored 22.
The Suns wrap up Summer League play with a 5-2 record.
