Phoenix Suns Summer League practice notes: Coach, Warren, Jorts and McConnell

Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

While DeAndre Jordan was pulling a McDyess, or is it Turkoglu?, the Phoenix Suns held their second practice for Summer League, where you will get to see the Suns youngest players compete against other prospects starting this weekend in Las Vegas.

I transcribed the summer Suns coach Nate Bjorkgren on Tuesday. Now let's listen to him speak on Day Two of practice.

You will notice we are lucky to have Evan Wendt back at the helm to edit and spice up the videos! Welcome back, Evan!

Nate Bjorkgren

He's full of energy, perfect for a player development coach. He coached the Bakersfield Jam last year to a great record, and now will be with the Suns full time.

T.J. Warren

"He can really score that ball," coach said. "He was really hounding people (on defense) in the last few minutes today."

Warren agreed that "defense is all effort" and that you need to show an ability to put out that effort even when tired.

Josh Harrellson

Nicknamed "Jorts" in college at Kentucky for wearing tight jean shorts one day, this big man is recovering from a back injury and a couple years out of the league to try to find a spot in the NBA again.

"I'm finally starting to get my game back," he said. He played overseas last year to try to get back in shape, kind of like a rehab stint.

Mickey McConnell

Former Dobson High School standout, now trying to make it in the NBA.

Today's Press Conference

The Suns will introduce Tyson Chandler at 1:00pm today at US Airways Arena. Who knows, we might see Sonny Weems and Ronnie Price too but they might not want to steal Tyson's thunder sunshine.

You will be able to watch the conference live on suns.com I expect, and we will post a story on it later today.

Today's Summer League practice

Our own Evan Wendt should be on hand for a special chance to watch/film the final minutes of practice today before the kids leave for Las Vegas. Watch out for a quick post with the video embedded in it.

Gerald Green

Good to see that Gerald signed with the HEAT. He will get a lot of chances to be "G3rald Gr33n" in Miami, and they will love him the same way we all did.
