Watch the Phoenix Suns bench complete a preseason comeback, capped by Archie Goodwin’s go-ahead slam with 3 seconds left!
The best part about these highlights is NO FREE THROWS to suffer watching. After the Jazz began the game shooting 16 free throws in less than a quarter (to the Suns’ 0), the teams ended up tied with 53 attempts each.
But really, this game was about Archie Goodwin getting the space to do his thing, and he did his thing like few NBA players can do.
Here’s what Archie told Paul Coro after the game:
“I was looking to be aggressive,” said Goodwin, who also hit a game-winning shot last season against Atlanta. “If they would’ve gave me the 3, I would’ve took it, But they were so far up, it was easy for me to go to the lane and get a layup fast.
“I can get to the rim anytime. It’s not about the time or who’s in front of me. That doesn’t bother me. It’s just about getting the opportunity. When I get the opportunity, I tried to take advantage of it.”
Devin Booker had 20 points, Eric Bledsoe and Marquese Chriss had 16 and Archie Goodwin poured in 13 late points to help the Suns overcome a 4th quarter double-digit deficit. Dragan Bender had another stat-lite night of 1 point, 4 rebounds (plus the game-winning tap back!), 2 blocks, 1 assist and 1 steal.
