Suffice it to say, the rest of the Association is expecting big things from Phoenix Suns phenom Devin Booker this season.
In a survey of all 30 NBA general managers, Booker was overwhelmingly chosen as the player poised for a “breakout season.” Booker was named by 31% of GMs, followed by Karl-Anthony Towns of the Minnesota Timberwolves (13.8%), and Myles Turner of the Indiana Pacers (10.3%). Minnesota’s Andrew Wiggins and Los Angeles Lakers guard D’Angelo Russell each received 6.9% of the vote.
Booker wasn’t the only Sun to appear on this season’s survey. GMs were also asked to identify which player was the “steal” of June’s NBA Draft. Marquese Chriss received the fifth most votes behind Henry Ellenson of the Detroit Pistons, Patrick McCaw of the Golden State Warriors, Kris Dunn of the Timberwolves, and Dejounte Murray of the San Antonio Spurs. Jared Dudley was named by 10.3% of GMs as the player that “will make the best head coach someday,” behind only Chris Paul of the Los Angeles Clippers.
