While Phoenix Suns fans nervously wait for an update on T.J. Warren’s return following a mysterious head injury, general manager Ryan McDonough had high praise for Warren’s consistency this week.
Appearing on Arizona Sports 98.7 FM’s Burns and Gambo, McDonough elaborated on what Warren means to the team.
“He’s been probably our most consistent two-way player and our best scorer in terms of efficiency, and just being able to get a bucket to stop an opposing run or to start a run of our own in the halfcourt.”
McDonough was especially complimentary of Warren’s defense.
“He’s up there among the league-leaders in terms of deflections and steals. We want to see how our team looks when we have everybody (healthy).”
He also spoke about the limitations that Warren’s absence puts on the team.
“(When) we don’t have him, it puts a lot of pressure on all of our offense with Eric (Bledsoe) and Devin in particular,” McDonough said.
A firm timetable has not yet been set for Warren’s return. Some reports are that he could be back as soon as a couple of weeks.
The Phoenix Suns have a road matchup with the Golden State Warriors tomorrow. Tip is scheduled for 7:30pm PT.
