Tankwatch 2016 -8 Games to Go

Honestly, I'm torn between relief that this terrible season will soon be over and grief that there will be no more Suns games to watch and discuss until next season starts. Yes, many if not most of the games this year have been painful to watch but at least a small part of me would rather watch bad Suns basketball than no Suns basketball. Probably because lately it hasn't been all bad.

After this season ends, we do still have the lottery, the draft and summer league games to look forward to as well as possible trades and free agent signings during the off-season but that's just not the same.

Thanks (?) to a win against the Lakers last night, the Suns start out this week in fourth place a half game behind the Nets and only three games ahead of Minnesota. Could the Suns drop to the #5 spot this week? Not likely, but there are two more weeks left in the season after this one so... ???

By the way, I just finished an interesting article over at CBS Sports about their take on what's at stake for the top 10 teams in the draft lottery this year. Give it a look if you have time. The author has some interesting takes when looking at each team.

Important games tonight (3/30/16): Phoenix @ Milwaukee, Miami @ LA Lakers, LA Clippers @ Minnesota and Washington @ Sacramento

Phoenix Suns: The Suns have four games this week. They start with an away game at Sacramento (3/25) then return home to face the Celtics the following evening (3/26). Then the Suns finish the week with a couple of road games against Minnesota (3/28) and Milwaukee (3/30). Although three of the four games are on the road, this looks like another relatively easy stretch as only Boston has a winning record and is in the playoff picture.

Brooklyn Nets: The Nets also have four games this week and face a much more difficult schedule than the Suns. They start off with two home games against Cleveland (3/24) and Indiana (3/26). After a day of rest, they hit the road for back-to-back games in Miami (3/28) and Orlando (3/29). Orlando is the only sub .500 team that they face this week so I don't see the Suns having much luck in moving back into the #3 spot.

Minnesota Timberwolves: With the Suns actually winning a few games lately and the Wolves not doing so, the possibility of the Suns slipping down to the fifth spot in the pre-lottery draft order is very real. Minnesota has four games this week and although three of the four are home games, there schedule isn't particularly easy. They start out on the road at Washington (3/25) and then face the Jazz (3/26), the Suns (3/28) and the Clippers (3/30) at home.

Washington Wizards: The Wiz also have a relatively easy four game schedule this week although three of the four games are on the road. They start with home game against Minnesota (3/25) and then take off on a west coast road trip to play the Lakers (3/27), Golden State (3/29) and Sacramento (3/30).
