2016 NBA Summer League Gamethread: Phoenix Suns vs. Minnesota Timberwolves

Winner will play in Monday's championship game.

For the second consecutive year, the Phoenix Suns have the opportunity to advance to the NBA Summer League championship game and cement their legacy in offseason immortality.

Before such a wild dream can be realized though, the Suns will have to get past the Minnesota Timberwolves. Minnesota eliminated the Toronto Raptors in a thriller yesterday, knocking down two free throws with .4 seconds remaining to score amn 81-79 victory. The 24th seeded Twolves got 22 points from Xavier Silas who connected on 5 of 11 from beyond the arc. Your Summer Twolves:

  • Keith Benson
  • Coty Clarke
  • Majok Deng
  • Kris Dunn
  • Jarrid Famous
  • Tyus Jones
  • Kris Joseph
  • Toure' Murray
  • Adreian Payne

  • Xavier Silas
  • Scott Suggs
  • Devin Thomas
Do you even need to be told what happened with the Suns yesterday? It was only the single greatest moment in NBA Summer League History. Arguably. Probably. Let's watch it again.

Future of the franchise there, right? Let's all overreact together, it's fun.

Ulis finished with 19 points in a game that was an ugly affair for both teams throughout. Troy Williams led all Suns with 22 points and Alan Williams pulled down a game high 16 rebounds. Williams enters Sunday's matchup with Minnesota as the Summer League's leading rebounder at 12.2 per contest. Your Summer Suns:

  • Dragan Bender
  • Askia Booker
  • Devin Booker
  • Alec Brown
  • Michael Bryson
  • Marquese Chriss
  • Derek Cooke
  • Kyle Kuric
  • Shannon Scott
  • Richard Solomon
  • Tyler Ulis
  • Alan Williams
  • Troy Williams
Whether you're looking for spectacular individual performances, or a solid team effort, the Phoenix Suns have not disappointed this Summer. Some are calling Dragan Bender the most impressive rookie in Las Vegas, and Tyler Ulis is arguably the Summer League's breakout star. Most importantly though, we get more hoops. Winner moves on to tomorrow's championship! Tip off between the Phoenix Suns and Minnesota Timberwolves from the Thomas and Mack Center in Las Vegas, Nevada is scheduled for 3pm PT.
