Former Phoenix Suns head coach John MacLeod is part of the 2016 class being inducted into the Arizona Sports Hall of Fame.

There are few individuals more influential in Phoenix professional basketball history than John MacLeod. Coach MacLeod led the Suns from 1973 to 1987, racking up 579 wins and reaching the NBA Finals in 1976. After leaving Phoenix, he spent three seasons as head coach of the Dallas Mavericks, one season with the New York Knicks, then eight with the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. He was also an assistant for Scott Skiles during his first season with the Suns. Macleod was inducted into the Phoenix Suns Ring of Honor in 2012.
