Just before Media Day and training camp kicks off a busy season for new/returning Phoenix Suns forward Jared Dudley, he and his good friend and trainer Ryan Read will host a shooting clinic for young teens.
The clinic, which runs $150 per person, is open for both boys and girls aged 13-17 years old and covers eight hours of shooting instruction over two days, next Saturday and Sunday from 9am-1pm.
To register, email firstname.lastname@example.org. The sooner the better, because registrations are capped at 100 kids.
“I’m getting ready for the season and these kids aged 13-17 in high school are getting ready for the season,” Dudley says. “What can I pass along to this generation? Shooting. That’s my best asset.”
The clinic is run by long time friend Ryan Read and also features Suns guards Eric Bledsoe, Devin Booker and Brandon Knight to help out and speak with the kids. Knight was kind enough to replace injured P.J. Tucker (back surgery) in the guest-appearance lineup.
Read played with Dudley on the same state championship high school, and moved to Phoenix during Dudley’s first stint in the valley to set up Thrive training.
Dudley wants to pass along the fundamentals of good shooting to these kids, and knows that the presence of the best three Suns players will help make the weekend even more fun.
“We’re going to work on technique and balance and the proper fundamentals on how to be a good shooter,” Dudley said. “As everyone knows, shooting is the easiest thing to improve as a basketball player. It just takes repetition, doing it the right way.”
