GameThread: Phoenix Suns @ New York Knicks, 1/21/17

Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

The Phoenix Suns handed the New York Knicks a loss in a testy December game. Back then the Knicks were 14-10 and had playoff aspirations. While the Knicks still harbor playoff hopes (they're only 2 games out of 8th place in the east), their recent freefall may have the front office reconsidering their future.

The Suns for their part seem to be committed to tanking giving their young players more minutes. Sure, they're only 4 and a half games out of the 8 seed, but they also sit alone with the 3rd worst record in the league. With 40 games left and the trade deadline coming up, the front office has to be thinking about draft position.

Whatever the outcome, I doubt the crystal ball gets much clearer for either team.

After missing the last 2 games, Joakim Noah will be available for the Knicks tonight.
