Update: T.J. Warren injured, but cleared of concussion protocol; Exum out for season

NBA: Oklahoma City Thunder at Phoenix Suns Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

Last night’s game between the Utah Jazz and Phoenix Suns included a terrible pileup under the rim toward the end of the first quarter. Dante Exum and T.J. Warren both were injured on the play.

Exum’s injury was significantly worse. He was diagnosed with a separated shoulder and ligament damage, and will likely miss the rest of the season.

Warren’s head smacked hard on the floor when his legs were knocked out from under him. He would return for a couple minutes in the second quarter, but was taken out quickly and evaluated for a concussion.

Luckily, results of testing were negative for a concussion.

Warren was tested again today, and once again was not placed in concussion protocol.

He is listed as day-to-day, and will reportedly be a game-time decision for Monday’s third preseason game. Frankly, the Suns will be extremely cautious with Warren. If he is held out for precautionary reasons, that’s a good thing.
