The Phoenix Suns held their first official group workout at Talking Stick Resort Arena on Monday, May 29.

The Suns hold the 4th, 32nd and 54th picks in the upcoming draft, and will likely spend most of the group workouts evaluating talent for the two second-round picks as well players who could signed to the new 16th and 17th roster spots designated for “two way” contracts with the D-Leage affiliate.

Players who visited the Suns on Monday include

Johnathan Motley has the highest upside of the group - projected just outside the first round as a super-long (7-4” wingspan!!) small forward from Baylor with a 240 pound frame. He can protect the paint and move on the perimeter as well. Could be that combo forward type that excels in today’s NBA.

Josh Hart has a future in the league if he can find a calling card - either defense or shooting. He projects mid-second round of the draft, does pretty well at a lot of different things on both ends of the court. He just needs to find THAT thing that makes him an NBA player for years.

Kyle Kuzma projects to go mid-second round as well, though the Suns’ own Jared Dudley is thinking higher.

Kobi Simmons is from Arizona, a surprise early entrant who might even get drafted.
