Regino said if not for the scholarship her plan would have been to attend community college. She will pursue a degree in medicine or criminology.
“We are honored that the Phoenix Suns Charities selected Esmeralda to receive this scholarship allowing her to fulfill her dream to attend NAU,” said NAU President Rita Cheng. “She is incredibly deserving of this award and we are excited to welcome her to the Lumberjack family.”
Regino will be a first-generation college student. Since its inception in 1988, Phoenix Suns Charities has contributed over $18 million to area communities.
