Knicks and Suns Have Had Dialogue Around a Kristaps Porzingis Trade

If there was any player to use your assets on, 21-year-old Kristaps Porzingis is it.

What a way to start off draft week, right? Rumors are flying around everywhere revolving the Phoenix Suns, and now there’s one where it makes sense to commit on if you’re the front office.

According to The Vertical’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the Knicks have been fielding calls for Kristaps Porzingis as Phil Jackson won’t rule out shipping him for the right package.

With that being said, Phoenix should be on the phones all day haggling with New York to pry Porzingis out of Jackson’s triangle.

What would it take? Well, ESPN 98.7’s John Gambadoro is reporting that indeed both teams have had dialogue back-and-forth, but New York’s asking price includes Devin Booker.

Now, I wouldn’t go that far, but everyone outside of Booker is on the table for a piece like Porzingis. If you get the chance to add another star-caliber player under 25, let alone 22, alongside Booker you absolutely do it.

A lineup of Eric Bledsoe, Booker, free agent or draft pick, Porzingis, and Dragan Bender or Marquese Chriss matches most if not all, teams out in the Western Conference. Another key factor in this is that Porzingis fits this team’s overall vision and window. Not only do you add another young piece to your core, but you enhance it tenfold by adding the former No. 4 overall pick alongside most of them.

Time is ticking on general manager Ryan McDonough to cash in those Miami picks in a deal before the value depreciates greatly after this summer's free agency period. If you think Pat Riley and the Heat will strike out, think again.

If I was in McDonough’s shoes, I would go all-in on Porzingis and Booker as your building blocks for a championship run for years to come. Rarely do these opportunities of incompetence from a front office occur, so pounce on it for a gigantic game-changing building block while you can.
