Welcome to Summer League, everybody! Not only are we seeing the debuts of No. 4 pick Josh Jackson and one of their two second round selections, Davon Reed, but we see him alongside Marquese Chriss and Dragan Bender which gives the Summer Suns one of the more talented rosters in Las Vegas.
In their first matchup, they face off against the Sacramento Kings. Compared to Phoenix, Sacramento might have even more youthful talent themselves. Led by De’Aaron Fox, Harry Giles, Justin Jackson, Buddy Hield, Skal Labissiere, and Georgios Papagiannis, they will be the toughest test the Suns will face during the opening weekend. It also gives us a chance to see Jackson against a player such as Hield to see how his tenacious defense fares and Chriss versus Skal will be a fun battle for sure.
We also will see extended run for Bender in a point forward role. Leading up to their trip to Vegas, Bender seemed fairly comfortable in such a role in practice. His development and how he’s adjusted himself compared to last season will be what I mainly keep my eyes on. If Bender proves to be dominant on both ends, it will be a promising sight to see, to say the least.
Follow along with myself and the rest of the Bright Side Of The Sun community in the comments section throughout tonight’s contest! With three roster building blocks participating in Summer League, this is by far one of the most anticipated years in terms of fan anticipation.
It’s #TheTimeline era, now let's see it officially put into action against competition.
