Phoenix Suns Ring of Dishonor... it's a whole new ballgame now

Because we have changed the rules.

OKLAHOMA ST. REEVES

After reading Greg Esposito's article yesterday (My Take On a Suns Ring of Dishonor), we decided to make some changes to include many of his ideas.

First and foremost, the polls will no longer pit nominees against each other. Each nominee will have his/her/their/its own separate poll where you get to vote 'yes' or 'no' on their induction into the Ring of Dishonor. Greg suggested an 80% 'yes' vote for a nominee to get inducted but we're going with a two-thirds majority vote (67%) to get in.

Second, yes the nominees will no longer be limited to a single individual or even a person. As Greg put it, "A member of the Suns Ring of Dishonor doesn't necessarily have to be someone who has played or worked for the organization. It does, however, have to be someone or something which has tortured, haunted or just plain disrespected the franchise since 1968 and induce a cringe when a die-hard fan hears it mentioned."

One thing that hasn't changed is that nominees still cannot currently be a part of the Suns’ organization in any capacity.

How does this affect the voting in the previous RoD articles? Not much really. No one had any objections to Robert Horry or Lance Blanks being included in the voting (and Horry easily won the #1 spot in yesterday’s runoff vote by about a 2-to-1 margin) and the only objections regarding the Morrii (Markieff Morris won in yesterday's poll, with Marcus finishing second and combined they got 90% of the votes) was that they should be a single nomination instead of being nominated separately. So all three are in although there is an extra poll today to determine if Markieff's win yesterday should be amended to include both he and Marcus as a single inductee.

We'll do several of these yes or no polls per day and see where that takes us. Every worthy nomination made in the comments section will eventually be included in the polls but not every one will always be included in the following day's article. Nominations that obviously don't belong will be ignored (such as someone nominating Steve Nash).

As for today, we're carrying over the nominees from yesterday in the new poll format plus adding a couple of nominees from Greg's list.

Time to vote!

From Espo’s article:

A member of the Suns from 1991-1994, he's remembered for what he allegedly did off the court rather than his lack of usefulness on it.

In 1993 his pregnant girlfriend was murdered. Usually that makes you a sympathetic figure. Especially if you're famous. That is, unless you're tied to it. How bad was it? During the trial of the man who was convicted of the crime, both the prosecutor and the defense claimed Mustaf masterminded the entire crime.

We hope you like the new format and please continue to make your own nominations in the comments section. Any nominations that were previously made have not been forgotten and will be put to a vote eventually unless they don’t conform to the rules and guidelines previously mentioned.

We’ll have a totally new lineup of potential inductees tomorrow!
