With T.J. Warren and Isaiah Canaan sitting out the game, the Suns just couldn’t get it done against the Spurs who were also without key players LaMarcus Aldridge, Danny Green and Rudy Gay.

The Suns started out shooting well, hitting 50% from the field and from three in the first quarter but they cooled off rapidly after the fast start ending up shooting 42.2% from the field and 23.3% from three for the game. Turnovers were also a killer tonight as the Suns committed 23... one more than their total assists (22). The Spurs ended up shooting 47.1% from the field and 36.7% from three.

Devin Booker led the Suns with 21 points. Marquese Chriss had 12, Josh Jackson had 11 and Troy Daniels and Alex Len had 10 each. Kawhi Leonard and Manu Ginobili wound up as the Spurs’ leading scorers with 21 each with Ginobili doing most of his damage in the third quarter. The Suns briefly cut the lead to 2 points before he went on a one man 8-0 run.

Credit the Spurs for also hounding Booker on defense, especially when he was playing the point. The Suns really missed Warren and Canaan tonight as they fall to 15-26 at the midpoint of their season.
