Getting Point Guard for Now and the Future.

I’m fine with getting a stop gap point guard for the year. I’m not sure i’m really ok with going for a big fish like Kemba. It would take a lot and he’d take up a max slot going into his thirties, not ideal when you’re trying to build around Booker and Ayton. To complement your foundational pieces, we should find a player who has been a winner, can play tough defense, can play off the ball, and also hit the open three. To me the perfect veteran stop gap would be Pat Beverly, he played seudo point guard for the Rockets when they had Harden running the show. Plus we got Ariza and Anderson as well! But to me there is still a player who fits perfectly and also is young and can grow.

To me the perfect player for the Suns, and one we should be pushing hard for, is Terry Rozier. The kid is a baller and would fit perfectly into Koko’s offense with Booker and Ayton. He would fill the role Ricky Rubio did for the Jazz last year, and I think he would do a tremendous job doing it. The kid’s still 24 but already has played for a real playoff contending team, he knows what it takes and will bring it everyday. Give me a point guard who can average 15/5/5 on 1.5 turnovers while shooting close to 40% from three, all while playing great defense and I’d be estatic! Especially one that will be under team control for the next year and possibly 4 more after that and he won’t be 29 til the end of his contract. Trust me he’s going to get better and he’s would be the perfect fit next to Booker.

Now here is where things get tricky, most Celtics fans are pushing for Bridges or Jackson, and I’m not willing to give up on either of them right now. My offer would be more along the lines of Suns trading Elie Okobo, Suns 2019 top-3 protected pick (unprotected 2020), and the Bucks 2020 first round pick. Elie Okobo gives them a young point guard to groom as their backup playmaker, while the two picks give them ammo to go after Anthony Davis next off-season when I believe he will be traded. As much as I’m a believe in Bender, I’d be willing to throw him in as well more than likely as well, that’s how much of a stud I think Rozier would be with the Suns.

PLUS, Rozier and Ayton would take over Puma basketball and sway the entire team to go Puma and we will not only revolutionize basketball but basketball apparel as well.
