Open Thread: Phoenix Suns (9-28) vs. Golden State Warriors (24-13)

This is a nice litmus test for the newly improved Suns.

NBA: Oklahoma City Thunder at Phoenix Suns Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

Probable starters:

Suns - De’Anthony Melton, Devin Booker, Mikal Bridges, T.J. Warren, Deandre Ayton

Warriors - Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, Kevin Durant, Draymond Green, Kevon Looney

  • How will the Warriors guard Ayton? It wasn’t a factor when Golden State steamrolled them in Oakland, but the Suns’ No. 1 pick showed during their preseason matchup he can be unguardable when he's locked in. We’ll see how Ayton fares versus Looney and Green.
  • For the Suns to really pull off the stunner, Booker will have to keep up his All-Star production. Something along the lines of 30-plus points and 7-8 assists on elite efficiency will have to be what it takes to get it done.
  • Phoenix’s defense has been improved in December, but going against the Warriors is an entirely different challenge. Let’s see how they respond in a nice game where they will be tested consistently on both ends.
