The Phoenix Suns now officially have a head coach as ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowksi reported that Igor Kokoskov will be their man in charge.

Arizona Sports’ John Gambadoro also broke live on the air that Kokoskov is signed to a 3-year deal with no options. General manager Ryan McDonough and Vice President of Basketball Operations James Jones flew to meet Kokoskov in between Games 1 and 2 of the Western Conference Semifinals to wrap their process up.

Kosokov has a great coaching track record. Outside of leading Slovenia to a EuroBasket championship, he has plenty of notable names in his resume. Outside of the Seven Seconds or Less Suns with Mike D’Antoni, Kokoskov has worked with Larry Brown (Pistons), Flip Saunders (Pistons), Alvin Gentry (Clippers + Suns), Mike Brown (Cavaliers), and most recently Quinn Snyder (Jazz).

This was a quick decision as Gambadoro also reported Phoenix was “blown away” and made their decision immediately after speaking with him in-person. No other candidates received second interviews.
