Kokoskov on coaching, Slovenia and Doncic

Get some insight into Igor Kokoskov, new head coach of the Phoenix Suns

NBA: Playoffs-Houston Rockets at Utah Jazz Russ Isabella-USA TODAY Sports

Many of you have not even heard Igor Kokoskov speak, let alone coach a basketball team. Allow me to introduce you to some Igor.

First, almost five minutes on Luka Doncic and Slovenia’s national team gold medal in 2017.

If you want more detail on how Kokoskov could fit in Phoenix, here’s a long twitter thread from David Nash, or the Four Point Play, yesterday.

One of the embedded videos is Igor talking about the link between defense and offense, and the big picture of the game itself.

I think I’m really going to like Igor as the head coach on this team.

Here are some highlights of the Slovenian team last summer, where Igor was the head coach and led them to the gold.

And now let’s listen to Coach Nick from bballbreakdown.com tell us how Slovenia did it.

Of course, the absolute perfect pairing from the draft appears, at this time, to be Luka Doncic. Let’s check out more on Luka.

Here’s the folks from “The Jump” on ESPN talking about Doncic.

This was back on April 10 - just before the end of the NBA season. Before Kokoskov joined the Suns. Before Mike Budenholzer left Atlanta. But it’s still good to watch what these guys say about Doncic and his future in the league.

The lady in the middle is Mina Kimes, who write an excellent article on Doncic recently. Be sure to check it out.
