Las Vegas does not think your Phoenix Suns will lift the Larry O’Brien trophy at the conclusion of next season.
But Sin City is warming up to the idea of the Suns capturing an NBA championship for the first time in franchise history. Well, when we compare the odds entering this season anyway.
Phoenix is 200-1 to win it all in ‘19. Entering this season, the odds the Suns would win a championship in 2018 were 500-1. That would have been a bad bet, we fell a little short.
Nine teams have worse odds than the Suns. The Nets, Hornets, Bulls, Mavericks, and Pistons opened at 300-1. The Grizzlies and Magic sit at 500-1, and if the Atlanta Hawks find their way to the top, it will equal a 1000-1 payday.
Entering last season only the Nets, Magic, and Kings had worse odds than the Suns.
If betting long shots isn’t your thing, you can get the favored Warriors at 5-4. Golden State is followed by the Rockets and 76ers at 7-2, then the Celtics at 8-1 and the Lakers at 20-1.
Eighth down the list is the Eastern Conference champion Cleveland Cavaliers. The 30-1 odds seem to indicate Vegas thinks LeBron James is on his way out.
Have fun with this while we wait on the real news. That is over/under win totals for the 2018-19 season. The full list of odds to win it all next season can be found here.
