The Phoenix Suns have played two games at the 2018 NBA Summer League in gorgeous Las Vegas, Nevada. So far DeAndre Ayton, the number one overall pick in last month’s NBA Draft and future Hall of Famer, has given long suffering fans reason to smile.
But will that translate to regular season success? To hear Ayton tell it, he’s confident that the Suns can make history. Because who wants their first-round draft pick to share anything different? Here’s his exchange with Jim Rome Monday morning.
“I have been going with this group to be amazing. We can really become something good. We can really make history in Phoenix. We can really win a lot of games, especially as a young group.
We’re very young and hungry. We all have the work ethic. I see them practice. I see sometimes in the weight room, guys putting extra work in. Guys staying after practice putting work in. We’re just young. We have young legs. We can run all day.
Some of these guys have been in the league, couple, two years, three years. They know the ropes. I just know for a fact that it’s going to spread and be more contagious with the work ethic.”
Sounds like the young man is ready to play his part in delivering 40+ wins this season. Can’t wait. Give the interview a listen, Ayton also addresses Blazers guard CJ McCollum skipping naps last season to watch him play at Arizona.
