Following news yesterday that Suns guard Devin Booker would be undergoing surgery to his right hand, we finally have a timetable following its completion.

The Suns announced Devin Booker’s fifth metacarpophalangeal joint surgery was successfully performed by Dr. Steven Shin at Kerlan-Jobe Orthopedic Clinic in Los Angeles on Monday afternoon.

Booker’s expected recovery time is six weeks, which means he would miss the Suns’ first two, possibly three regular season games against Dallas, Denver and Golden State.

For those wondering, the fifth metacarpophalangeal joint is the pinky knuckle.

Booker had been participating in basketball-related activities all summer, including being the youngest player at the USA Basketball Men’s National Team Minicamp.

The Suns have avoided a situation in which their star misses significant action, but there might be an early adjustment period as Booker will be behind when it comes to knowing the nuances of head coach Igor Kokoskov’s scheme.
