One of the best things about Media Day is the chance to see and talk to players for the first time since the end of the last season.
When newly rich man Devin Booker took the podium on Monday, he fielded questions from dozens of media members on a wide range of topics.
He talked about the origin of his hand injury — in detail, how he can learn from the sidelines, build up his left-handed skills while recovering and then become the face of the Phoenix Suns franchise for the next six years or more.
“It’s a very special year,” he said of the coming season. “I can’t wait.”
He does see the similarities in their roster to the 2016-17 Rockets, including two starters and himself in the James Harden role. He pointed out there are differences but that he’s been watching film on where new teammates Trevor Ariza and Ryan Anderson get their shots. And, he noted, it’s the Suns who have big man Deandre Ayton.
Forgive my Blair Witch tendencies as a videographer and take a few minutes (11 of them if you’ve got time) to listen to Booker talk about the upcoming season, even though you can’t hear all the questions due to ambient noise.
