Despite a torn meniscus, fans still believe Zion will be the NBA’s top rookie this year.

In SB Nation’s first batch of FanPulse results for the 2019-20 NBA season, fans named Zion Williamson the favorite to win Rookie of the Year despite news this week that the No. 1 overall pick would miss up to two months with a torn meniscus.

Williamson is so overwhelmingly the favorite among FanPulse voters that even when voting between Williamson and the entire rest of the field, fans still chose Williamson:

The other two questions asked in the first round of responses were who would win the NBA championship and the NBA MVP trophy. The responses were pretty predictable: the Clippers and Giannis Antetokounmpo. WE NEED HOTTER TAKES.

It was somewhat surprising to see Stephen Curry and Kawhi Leonard finish second and third in the MVP results, behind players like Nikola Jokic (+1,100 at FanDuel) or Anthony Davis (+750 at FanDuel). This might be a year the stars cannibalize voting for themselves and their teammates.

The championship also feels way less decided to me than FanPulsers believe. Nearly HALF the 900-plus people who responded here believe it’s the Clippers’ title to lose. Huh? Make the playoffs, add a couple stars, and now you’re the shoo-in? Nope. This year is going to be way closer than that.

If you want to set the record straight, sign up here to join the SB Nation NBA FanPulse and make your voice heard. Have fun!
