If you are anything like me, you love what you see of the Phoenix Suns this season and you know a lot of it is because of new point guard Ricky Rubio and the coaching schemes of Monty Williams meshing perfectly.
Ricky is among the top five this season in assists per game, have a top-three offense and lead the league in assist percentage (number of made field goals having been assisted) and catch-and-shoot threes and wide open shot attempts.
You know these things. But if you’re like me, you don’t exactly know how the Suns are getting so dang many open shots, right?
Here’s a quick under-five-minute video from the Ringer that explains what you’re seeing very well.
You would think that the Suns opponents will start figuring out how to stop the Suns from leading the league in all these “your defense on us is bad” categories and they probably will. But Kyle even shows how the Suns have already developed wrinkles/adjustments in their actions depending on how the defense adjusts, and you can bet that Williams’ coaching staff will make adjustments too.
