Ayton asserts Avenatti’s allegations are apocryphal

Suns sensation stays silent.

NBA: Phoenix Suns at Sacramento Kings Sergio Estrada-USA TODAY Sports

Phoenix Suns rookie sensation and probable future Hall of Fame inductee Deandre Ayton spoke to the media on Wednesday regarding the allegations that Nike gave Ayton’s mother a bunch of money because the top pick in the 2018 NBA Draft was really good at basketball in high school.

Ayton didn’t say much.

“To be honest, I have no comment on that,” Ayton said after Wednesday’s shootaround.

“I’m not really addressing that right now. I do not know anything about that, but the thing is for me to just focusing on finishing this season strong and just really polishing my rookie season and entering my first summer of the NBA.”

You may recognize this as exactly what one would say whether they were guilty or not.

We’ve had enough scandal in college sports that stories like this are not nearly as interesting as they once were.

Let me fast forward to the end for you. Deandre Ayton goes on to be filthy rich. He’ll probably, no definitely, be inducted into the Suns Ring of Honor. Corruption within the NCAA will continue. Michael Avenatti will, you know what, who cares?

Brendon’s article is the best way to get up to date on what’s going on with Ayton. Read it now.
