After creating a franchise-worst losing streak of 17 straight games, the Suns have peaked their heads out of the ashes to win four out of five games. All they need to win is one more and I get to see Espo and at least one other fan (Steve White) embarrass themselves online, so the season is almost a win for me already even if they finish 1-15 from here on out.
But what if the Suns keep on winning?
In this stretch, they’ve beaten a four teams with a combined record of 117-134, a 46% winning percentage.
Their remaining opponents have a collective 49.4% winning percentage, starting with Portland on Saturday night and the Warriors on Sunday with a combined 64% win rate. Then it’s the Jazz and Rockets after that. All but one on the road.
Could be a tough week ahead, but these Suns have been fun to watch lately and why not maybe they can keep winning at more than the 20% rate they’ve been feeding us for more than a year.
Heady stuff indeed.
A week ago, many of us couldn’t imagine the Suns winning more than three more games, and that was before winning four of the past five.
Devin Booker remembered how to make a three pointer. Tyler Johnson has been an NBA level player at point guard. Kelly Oubre Jr. is balling. Deandre Ayton has decided physical contact with an opponent is okay. Mikal Bridges is go-go-gadget.
Now what do you say, Suns fans?
16 games left.
