Jrue Holiday trade

If we don't get the first pick I am very open to trading our pick. Ja and R.J. are fine players but if it's not Zion, I don't really wanna wait for another key piece to have to develop and become consistent.

Proposed Trade:

Suns Recieve:

Jrue Holiday- 2019-20 $26mil 20-21 $26 mil 21-22 $27 mil

Pelicans 1st Round pick (2019) currently projected #9

Pelicans Recieve:

Tyler Johnson 2019-20 $19 mil

T.J. Warren 2019-20 $11 mil 20-21 $12 mil 21-22 13 mil

Suns 1st Round pick (2019) currently projected #2

Why Pelicans do it: This only makes sense for New Orleans if they do or plan to trade Anthony Davis this offseason. If they are rebuilding the #2 or #3 (probably doesn't work if we fall farther) pick is going to be very appealing to them. I Davis is gone Jrue may also want out, not that Phoenix is a place people who want to win think about, but I think it could intrigue him. The Pelicans are taking back more money for next year but gain more flexibility long term. I think Warren's contract is valuable. I think he is worth more than his salary.

Why Suns do it: Finally shore up the point gaurd position. Jrue isn't a great playmaker but that's fine next to Booker. Jrue has some experience playing off ball which will be nice. He's a good defender. I think he makes a ton of sense for this team. I like Warren and hate to see him go but we have many wings (seems Oubre will for sure be resigned) and need a more balanced roster. Trading down would allow us to still get a prospect, possibly Brandon Austin or a different power forward. We'd also be opening up more cap space for this offseason by sending more money out and getting a lower pick. Use the extra money to bring guys back and/or get a solid but not spectacular power forward
