Drafting the best player at 6 and making moves to create cap space and depth with veterans

Hey To work on the low end we will have roughly 9 million in cap space going into free agency. But what if we could get up to 19 million more in cap space to go after a guy like Tobias Harris, Kemba Walker or the dream Kevin Durant.

It starts on draft night. We take Deandre Hunter with the 6th pick. Hunter will add shooting and defense with the ability to guard 1-5 wile playing the 4.

The next move is to trade Denver josh Jackson the bucks pick and our first next year top 5 protected for Monte Morris. This gives us a steady PG who’s been in the league a couple years and is still only 23. It also gives us about 6 million in cap space. The nuggets do this because they are pretty thin on the wings and they would be getting 2 first round picks for their backup pg.

After that we trade TJ to Detroit for Langston Galloway. Langston is 27 and will be on an expiring deal next year worth about 7 million dollars. Detroit is also fairly thin on the wins and needs someone other than Blake who can go get a bucket. Galloway is a 6’2 combo guard that is a good shooter but won’t blow anyone away. He is 1 of 8 SGs on Detroit’s roster. He also plays point for them occasionally. I think the pistons would be happy to have TJ and take the rick to go all in with Blake and Drummond. We would save roughly 3 million with this deal and have an expiring contract.

After that we look to trade Tyler Johnson to Utah for Dante Exum. Dante will hav 2 years remaining at 9.6 million. Exams career has never really gotten out of the gate because of injuries. Tyler is only 2 years older than him and consistently healthy. Tyler is also better than him when Exum actually is on the court. This would give the Jazz a better backup PG and more flexibility at the end of next year. If Utah is really attached to Exum we could throw in a second round pick. This deal would free up 10 million in cap space for us.

these trades add 3 real NBA players all of which come from playoff teams while still remain mostly in the same age range of Booker and Ayton. It also opens up roughly 19 million in cap space on top of our initial projection of 9 million, for a total of 28 million in cap space. We then go all in on Kemba, Tobias, or KD. And the roster could look pretty good next year.

add whichever one of those 3 free agents tickles your fancy to the roster below
