While Tim is out cross-fitting, Dave and Greg have one main topic to cover on this pod:
A deep dive into the skills and projectability of rookie shooting guard/small forward... /power forward (?) Cameron Johnson, the 6’9” sharpshooter taken by the Suns with the 11th overall pick in the 2019 draft.
Johnson can shoot for sure. He can run off screens, doesn’t need to be on-ball at all, but can also put the ball on the floor for a drive to the rim. But who can he defend? That’s the million dollar question. And our guest has a really good idea what that is.
Our special guest is Jake Lawrence from TarHeelBlog.com, who knows Cam Johnson’s game intimately. Before writing for TarHeelBlog.com, Jake has worked in basketball at the college and high school levels as well as running a few summer camps. Jake breaks down Cam’s game and also discusses whether fellow rookie Coby White (who was taken by the Bulls at No. 7 overall) could have been a good fit with Devin Booker.
Just like every time, we run an interactive show where we read your live comments and questions on the air and respond. If you want to participate, log on Wednesday evenings from 7:00-7:30 PM or on Saturday mornings from 7:00-8:00 AM on our Solar Panel Youtube channel. Big thanks to everyone who participated in the latest live cast!
