Helping the Suns at the trade deadline: East edition

So after the loss to the Spurs on 1-20-2020 it has become apparent that the Suns need help with some of the starters and the bench so I am going to propose some trades which should be mutually beneficial to both teams for what the other teams are giving up and what should help us in our needs before the trade deadline on February 6th.

I do want to point out that I am going to try and keep the core players as much as I can but there is some trades where one of the core team is not on the team anymore. So Booker, Ayton, Bridges, Oubre Jr, Rubio is likely going to remain on the team but Oubre Jr or Rubio could be gone if the trade is right. Booker, Bridges and Ayton stay on the team for all of the trades.

So for this first fan post of two I will going over some potential trades with eastern conference teams. They could be contenders or bottom dwellers so lets get to the trades to help the Suns at the trade deadline.

Hawks- Jeff Teague, Jabari Parker, Damian Jones for Kaminski. Okobo, Lecque.

This trade for the Suns would give a proven point guard for the team in Teague and he did just get traded back to ATL but with the right trade he could come. Jabari Parker has been coming off the bench for the Hawks and he has played really well for them. For the Suns I would have him come off the bench to provide some scoring. Damian Jones is kinda filler but from his stats he is a good defender and would pair well with Bridges off the bench to try and keep leads and with Teague and Parker and Carter or possibly Oubre the bench would be much improved.

Hornets- D. Graham, Jalen McDaniels for Elie Okobo and Jalen Lecque

Graham has been having a breakout year for the Hornets and he has been assisting a lot to his teammates. The Hornets are a rebuilding team and really only need a good center and there is several in the draft so they could be a good team with Rozier, Monk, PJ Washington and Miles Bridges and whichever center they get in the draft. Jalen McDaniels would provide more scoring off the bench and would be a good development piece for the Suns. Hornets would get 2 point guards in Okobo and Lecque. Okobo is further along but Lecque could take over for Rozier when Rozier's contract is up.

Bulls trade Kris Dunn for Ty Jerome and Elie Okobo

There wasn't many pieces that I didn't think the Bulls would want to part with aside from Kris Dunn. In Dunn the Suns would get a defensive backup point guard who is okay at passing. Jerome would be the main piece to build behind Coby White and Okobo is filler.

Cavs trade Kevin Love and Collen Sexton for Tyler Johnson, Kaminsky, Cam Johnson, C. Diallo, Okobo

This one is a big one as it would really shore up our weaknesses at the back up point guard and starting power forward positions. Love has championship experience and has a large contract so if the Cavs are going into a full rebuild then having all those young pieces would help them. Sexton would bring lots of stability at the backup point guard slot. For the Cavs Tyler Johnson is for the 19 mil for the Love trade, Kaminsky would provide spacing for Garland, Thompson and Osmen, Cam would do the same and they would have a great young piece, Diallo would give the Cavs a young player to fill Loves shoes and Okobo is mainly for salary filler and another guard to replace Sexton.

Pistons trade Reggie Jackson, Derrick Rose, Markieff Morris for Ricky Rubio, Kaminsky, Cam Johnson, Ty Jerome

This is another major one. D-Rose would become the starting PG since we are shipping Rubio away. Rose has been really good this year off the bench and is a former MVP and #1 pick. Reggie Jackson would be the backup PG and we would see the return of one of the Morris twins to the Suns and provide scoring and defense to the team. Suns would get a lot older. The Pistons would get Rubio who is a better PG than Jackson who was starting, Kaminsky would provide spacing off the bench or in the starting lineup until Blake comes back from injury. Cam would bring spacing and the Pistons would have a 2 guard duo of 3 point shot specialists in Svi and Cam. Ty Jerome could be the starting PG for the team and tank commander if they want to do so or a possible player for their future.

Pacers trade Myles Turner, Justin Holiday, Aaron Holiday for Tyler Johnson, Aron Baynes, Dario Saric and Okobo

This one was hard to figure out as I was putting in Sabonis and it wasn't working so I put in Myles Turner and I think I like this fit better. With Turner you could have multiple different lineups for the bigs with Ayton and Turner or vice versa in the PF and C position Also having Kaminsky and Diallo off the bench or mixing in with one of those two would bring different styles of play. Next we could get the Holiday Brothers and Aaron would be an ideal backup PG and Justin could provide more scoring. Tyler is mainly for salary, Baynes and Saric would give the Pacers a bit more size and spacing and Okobo is to cover Aaron's departure. Plus Okobo would be back on a team with TJ Warren so that would build chemisty for them.

Heat trade Goran Dragic, Kelly Olynyk and Derrick Jones Jr for Tyler Johnson, Aron Baynes, Jevon Carter and Jalen Lecque.

This one is essentially a one year contract swap with Dragic and Tyler Johnson. Rubio or Dragic could start and we really wouldn't lose anything either way. Olynk would provide some toughness and scoring either in the starting lineup or the bench and some 3 ball. Derrick Jones Jr is very athletic and fast so he could bring energy off the bench. Baynes would give the Heat a backup center behind Bam, Carter would go along the teams defensive identity and the Heat seems to be grooming and developing young players now so Lecque would fit their timeline.

Bucks trade Eric Bledsoe and Dragan Bender for Rubio and Kaminsky

This is essentially a come back to the Suns tour for Bledsoe and Bender. Bledsoe has really gotten better since leaving the Suns for the Bucks and is a bit better defensively and from 3 so he would be better than Rubio currently. Bender I don't know much about but he would be a good piece to bring in for chemisty. The Bucks getting Rubio would give the Bucks a secondary playmaker to go along with Giannis. Kaminsky would provide more spacing around Giannis when they are on the court together.

Knicks trade Randle, Payton, Bullock for Tyler Johnson, Oubre Jr, Jevon Carter.

This is a low key good trade. Randle last season was almost an All-Star for the Pelicans and he isn't in the best position on the Knicks, Payton would be the backup PG for us and Bullock is a spot up shooter that the Lakers got at the trade deadline last year who was very solid for them. Tyler is for salary, Oubre Jr would replace Randle and he would be a younger player to go with the Knicks timeline and Carter would replace Payton.

Magic trade Aaron Gordon, DJ Augustin and Mo Bamba for Tyler Johnson, Aron Baynes, Elie Okobo and Jevon Carter

This I think is one of my faves for the Suns. The Magic have a logjam in the C and PF spots and I think the Magic favor Issac more than Gordon and Vucevic over Bamba so we get players which are really good and could develop even more. DJ is a solid backup PG and would help plenty with playoff experience. Magic would get Tyler for salary, Aron Baynes would be a solid backup or a player that could be in the starting PF spot, Okobo and Carter would be to replace DJ off the bench while Fultz starts for the Magic.

76ers trade Al Horford, M. Thybulle, Trey Burke for Tyler Johnson, Aron Baynes and Jevon Carter

This is another trade which might help us make the playoffs. Horford has a newly minted 4 year contract which will last till he is 37 but he does provide lots of playoff experience and the 3 ball to play alongside Ayton, Trey Burk is a low key good backup PG. Finally Tybulle is a defensive player would could be paired well with Bridges and Horford in the starting lineup if need be. Plus he has a 4 year deal so when Horford's contract is up we clear that and we have lots of money off the books and a small contract to keep or move after Tybulle's 4 years here. The 76ers are very top heavy and large in their size and they don't have much of a bench. Tyler, Baynes and Carter could bring lots of production for their bench with Simmons passing to them when they are on the court together.

Wizards trade Mo Wagner, Isaiah Thomas, Isaac Bonga for Cam Johnson, Ty Jerome and Jevon Carter

Finally we have the Wizards. Bonga and Wagner are good pieces and have been playing well when they haven't been injured and you would have the sparkplug off the bench in Isaiah Thomas scoring and playmaking. Cam would provide spacing for the Wizards and Ty Jerome could be the backup point guard for the team behind Ish Smith. Also Jerome could step into the starting lineup after Walls 4 year contract is up. Carter would just be for scoring and defense off the bench.

Okay that is it for the Eastern Conference and all the possible teams I could see making a trade with the Suns at the deadline. I will post the West fan post closer to February near the trade deadline not only to get some discussion but because it is hard to trade within the same conference without making the other team better. So do any of the trades stand out to you or do you think these aren't the best trades? Let me know what you think.
