The Suns guard has earned the award for the first time in his career.

It has been a great week for the Phoenix Suns. The team navigated Week 8 (February 8-14) with a 4-0 record and pushed their winning streak to 6 games. Victories over the Cavaliers, Bucks, Sixers, and Magic during the period have solidified the team as a contender and, seeing as all teams are from the Eastern Conference, provided east coast writers a good look at the Suns.

And Devin Booker.

The 6th-year guard imposed his will against the opposition and did so in an efficient manner. His stat line of 32.3 points, 5.3 assists, 5.0 rebounds on 56.3/47.6/80.8 splits during Week 8 was impressive enough to garner him Western Conference Player of the Week.

It is the first time a member of the Phoenix Suns has won a weekly player award since Goran Dragic in February of 2014.

Booker began his week the subject of a feature by noted ESPN writer and Pardon the Interruption host Michael Wilbon. The story noted his desire to follow in the footsteps of his basketball idol, Kobe Bryant. He responded to the spotlight being cast upon him by elevating his game, leading the Phoenix Suns to an undefeated week, and doing all he could to live up to the words of Kobe: “Be legendary”.

The confidence Devin has been playing with is apparent in the way he has attacked the rim, acted as a teammate, and shot the ball. “Logo Book” made two appearances this week as he calmly knocked down shots from 28+ feet:

Congratulations to Devin Booker on this accomplishment. He continues to display comfort with the addition of Chris Paul and in doing so is leading his team towards their first playoff appearance since the 2009-10 season.
