Phoenix Suns will play in their first NBA Finals in nearly 30 years, bringing joy to a whole generation of fans who have never seen their team reach this stage of the season.
And while they may have been away from the NBA Finals a long time, they are being backed to finish the job having finally made it there.
Since edging out the Clippers, oddsmakers have cut the Suns’ odds of winning the NBA Championship to -175.
Put simply, this means that if you would need to stake $175 on the Suns today in order to net a profit of $100 were they to win the thing.
In implied probability terms, the odds indicate that the Suns have a 63.64% chance of lifting the trophy, whether its Atlanta and Milwaukee who joins them on the court.
Following their Game 5 win last night, Milwaukee have emerged as the clear contender and their odds of +180 are indicative of a 35.71% implied chance.
Atlanta, by comparison, have now been relegated to big underdogs at +1200, meaning their probability has been cut to just 7.69%.
Covers spokesperson Pete Watt: “Chris Paul played like a man who had waited half a lifetime to reach his first NBA Finals, and the Suns will now face the Bucks or the Hawks for the chance to win their very first title.”
“And although it’s a feat they’ve never managed to achieve before, sportsbooks have demonstrated that they believe Phoenix will have enough to take down whichever team emerges to face them”.
