Solar Panel middy: Top 125 NBA players and more with Seth Partnow

Dave talks with Seth Partnow (The Athletic, formerly NBA front office) on Suns in Top 125 players, good extension numbers for Ayton and Bridges, and more

Seth Partnow joined Dave King on the Solar Panel this week to discuss grouping players into tiers and where the Suns players fit in those tiers in the context of his Top 125 NBA Players series on The Athletic.

Partnow spent three years as Director of Basketball Research with the Milwaukee Bucks, before joining The Athletic as an NBA Analyst. He also has a new book coming out in November called The Midrange Theory.

Topics:

  • his pioneering use of player tracking data
  • on getting recruited by NBA front offices
  • what he learned about team building, keeping a core together
  • how all teams group players into tiers of like value; the lower the tier the bigger the grouping
  • where the Suns players fit in those tiers, from Cam Johnson to Chris Paul
  • how much would he give Ayton and Bridges in extensions?
  • how high does he see Booker, Ayton and Bridges rising in the future?
